Parker launches the Rapid Assembly Hose system

By Fluid Power World Editor | September 26, 2012

Parker Hannifin’s Parflex Division has created the Rapid Assembly Hose system — a hose and fitting system for low-pressure pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

This system comprises Parker RA (Rapid Assembly) quick connecting hose fittings and adapters, as well as Parflex 515H hose. Altogether, the products optimize the assembly time, while reducing overall system weight and connector costs.

The Parflex 515H hose is a low-pressure, fiber reinforced and light weight thermoplastic hose with very high kink resistance. Apart from a 25 percent tighter bend radius, the diameter of a ¼-inch 515H hose is also 20 percent smaller than that of a standard 100R1 hose. Moreover, this hose is lighter by five-folds than other comparable hoses in the market.

This light weight feature is also a boon to technicians who build many units per day. Combined with the Parker RA quick connecting fittings, assembly time is further reduced. More importantly, performance tests at several large original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) had revealed that the system’s performance such as durability, ease of assembly and routing, had exceeded expectations

Aside from that, the brass RA quick connect fittings deliver Rapid Assembly convenience in a compact, economical and anti-corrosive system. Its connector design is also very sturdy and can be easily installed. Hence, wrenches and other tools are no longer needed.

However, the RA series fittings were not designed as live swivels, so end-users should eliminate relative movement between the hose fitting and the adapter. Moreover, the system can be sealed through the use of synthetic and petroleum hydraulic oil resistant elastomeric o-rings.
